About me
The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is a world-leading centre of excellence that provides cutting-edge measurement science, engineering and technology to underpin prosperity and quality of life in the UK. NPL is the UK's National Metrology Institute (NMI), developing and maintaining the national primary measurement standards, as well as collaborating with other NMIs to maintain the international system of measurement. Alongside cutting-edge research and measurement standards, NPL offers hands-on education routes direct into industry.
There are well established apprenticeships in science, engineering and business administration. Seeking to nurture and respect, supporting growth and success. Employees receive training on effective communication, time management and how to work as part of a team. Many apprentices have gone on to permanent roles or secured part-funding towards a degree. Beyond apprenticeships, there are opportunities to develop skills at various stages of education or career through work experience (NPL Academy) and graduate scientist programmes.
