Saffron Science has been running for the past 18 months at The Meadows Library in The Meadows, Nottingham.
This exploratory research
investigates the views of the parents, what they have enjoyed, what they have found difficult and what they would like in the future. There is a focus on the roles of parents in promoting pupils' interest toward science learning in primary school. We will discuss parents’ aspirations for their children’s future careers and discuss social mobility.
The children themselves have a voice to air their views on science and what would improve their engagement and achievement.
Interactions between parents and their children informs the research with respect to dialogue/discussion taking place about science, forming valuable vignettes in the research.
The importance of language for science, especially for very young children is also a line of enquiry: (
