I worked in primary schools for over twenty years as a classteacher, senior leader and Deputy Headteacher. I taught across Key stages 1, 2 and 3 in UK and in Spain. During this time I developed a passion for science, art and design, improvised drama, assessment for learning, creativity and developing initiatives for higher attaining children. I am now an Associate Professor in Learning and Teaching at the University of Hertfordshire where I lead Science and Art Lead across the ITE programmes. I also run the Creative Primary Science educational consultancy. This involves leading teacher CPD and running workshops for children around the following themes:
- Teaching science conceptual knowledge through Drama
- Drama as an assessment tool
- Drama as a vehicle for retrieval practice
- Science and Art
- Science and English
- Meet the author events and workshops.
I enjoy writing and my most recent publications include: ‘Science Meets English’ and 'Superhero Scientists' both published by Millgate House.
Associate Professor in Learning and Teaching at The University of Hertfordshire provides me with the opportunity to lead innovative educational projects and the Professional Lead for art and science in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education.
I am delighted to be the Chair Elect for the ASE in 24-25.
