The geosciences are critical for delivering sustainable resources, understanding and mitigating natural hazards, and conserving and protecting our natural environment. The Geological Society supports geoscientists at every stage of their career by sharing and advancing knowledge of planet Earth and beyond.
Our education initiatives enhance learning through teaching resources, student competitions, and career guidance designed to foster interest in the natural world.
On our website, you can find a range of free resources for primary and secondary education such as activity and factsheets, world-renowned classroom posters, lesson plans, and thematic presentations.
Our annual Schools Geology Challenge is a nationwide competition for geology, geography, and science A-level students, or equivalent, and gives students the chance to win £500 to further geoscience education at their school.
Our geoscience education and outreach network (GEON) provides an informal and interactive online platform for educators from across the sector to connect, learn from each other, share opportunities, seek and offer funding or support, and stay informed about the latest developments in geoscience education.
